What a year it's been! In 2016, I released my first album "A Different Stream", it placed #48 for WNCW's top 100 releases of 2016, made "Regional Artist of the Year 2016", raised a successful Kickstarter Campaign of $11,866, pressed my first vinyl records, and toured parts of the East Coast. Woah. I couldn't feel more blessed if I tried! Thank you all for supporting my journey and music over the last few years. When I quit my job March 2015 to go full time, I had no idea it would be the hardest I've ever worked and the most rewarding thing I've ever done!
So what am I going to do in 2017? "A Different Stream" is now a year old and it's time to work on some new material. I have a band now and if ya'll haven't checked us out, it's under "Ashley Heath and Her Heathens". We're on facebook and have our own website as well! I play a ton of songwriting competitions and solo gigs in the Asheville area to pay my bills but when it comes to the big shows I book with a four piece and sometimes a six piece. I put the band together for my CD Release of A Different Stream and we had already previously been playing in Asheville country group "Raising Caine" (which is one of my favorite bands - just sayin' - Caine is one heck of a singer and songwriter).
I spent the winter writing songs for a new album and now I have 5 new songs that I want to record with my new band. I'll also be pulling in some of my favorite musicians from our area to record on the album as well. The album will be named Ashley Heath but it's going to have more of a rocking/blues/country vibe to it. I think ya'll are going to like it but it will be a quite bit different than the first album. I'm also currently going through the public domain and finding songs that I can record a really raw blues album at the same time as the original album. There's a really great band in town called "The King Zeros" that I want to use as a backing band for the blues stuff. It'll be like a Taj Mahal - Lightnin' Hopkins - Billy Holiday - Bessie Smith - Mississippi Fred McDowell etc kind of vibe to it and I think ya'll are going to dig it.. Atleast.... I hope so!
Looking forward to recording again!
Peace and love ya'll
